Torrential downpour continues this weekend after a slight reprieve on Australia Day. While many associate Queensland with sand, surf and eternal sunshine, January does spell summer rains here.
While some might whinge about soggy shoes, muddy floors and ill-looking grey skies, I would much rather these thunderstorms than the drought. Happy to put up with the inconvenience so we are not under water restrictions of yesteryears.
I have the luxury of writing this in the comfort and shelter of our home with a warm cup of milk tea, but very much aware that with these tropical rains come incidents of flash flooding and far too many road accidents. Please stay safe and dry!
